Knauf Cleaneo® Akustik panels are perforated boards containing special catalytic substances integrated into their gypsum core. These substances transform odorous and harmful compounds into harmless ones. The catalytic process occurs without the accumulation of harmful substances or depletion of the additives, ensuring that the effectiveness of Knauf Cleaneo® is virtually unlimited.
The decomposition of harmful substances can be accelerated by air movement in the room, such as from a ceiling fan, air conditioning system, or other means. In the case of perforated panels, the process is further enhanced by the larger effective surface area of the panels, allowing for faster decomposition of harmful substances.
The duration of the decomposition process, depending on the concentration of substances, the panel’s coating, perforation, and air movement, typically takes several hours. The period required for the breakdown of harmful substances is influenced by these factors, as well as by the extent to which Knauf Cleaneo® Akustik panels are applied within the room.
To fully utilize their potential, it is recommended to apply a minimum of 0.2 m² per cubic meter (m³) of room volume. Knauf Cleaneo® Akustik gypsum boards are certified as an environmentally friendly product by the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e. V. (IBU).
